Recipe: Delicious Paruppu Vadai

Paruppu Vadai. We add three types of dals - Channadal, Urad dal and Toor dal to make this recipe, hence it's also called as Mixed Dal Vada or Mupparuppu Vadai. Masala Vada, a crispy and savory deep fried fritter made from chana dal and spices, is a popular street food of South Indian cuisine. It is also known as Paruppu Vadai in Tamilnadu.

Paruppu Vadai This paruppu vadai is served on weddings too. I have already posted ulundu vadai and paruppu vadai too,but this version of aamai vadai is the traditional one made in our family. Paruppu vadai or dal vada, made with chana dal and a little urad dal. You can cook Paruppu Vadai using 10 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Paruppu Vadai

  1. You need of Chana Dal.
  2. It's of Green Chilli.
  3. Prepare of Hing.
  4. You need of Small piece of Ginger.
  5. It's of as per taste Rock Salt.
  6. Prepare of Jeera.
  7. Prepare of medium sized Onion chopped.
  8. You need of Green Coriander Leaves chopped.
  9. You need of Curry Leaves chopped.
  10. Prepare of as required Oil for frying.

A crisp, flavourful treat inspite the fact it has no masala or garlic. Take a small lime size batter in hand and make a ball. Gently flatten it on the hands. If you a looking at using negligible of no oil in making vadai, air fried method is the best.

  1. Wash and soak chana dal in enough water for about 2 hrs. Drain water, keep aside 1 to 2 tbsp of soaked chana dal and grind rest of the soaked chana dal to a paste by adding 1 green chilli, jeera, hing, ginger and salt with it. Add very little water if required.. Paruppu Vadai

  2. Take the batter in a mixing bowl. Add chopped onions, chopped green coriander leaves, chopped curry leaves and soaked chana dal which we had kept aside. Mix all well. Add salt if needed.. Paruppu Vadai
  3. Take a lemon size batter in hand, make balls and gently flatten with hands and smoothen the edges. Deep fry in hot oil from both sides till golden brown. Remove on paper napkin to drain excess oil..
  4. Serve hot..
